Dear Friends and Family;

As many of you know, I'm prone to sudden bursts of enthusiasm and get focused on a variety of projects. This time, my project is a marathon!!! Yes, folks, that's 26.2 miles of pavement, blisters, sore muscles, and immense satisfaction. This is coming from someone who is out of shape and as physically fit as a bag of marshmallows.

This time, however, I need your help to achieve my goal, raising money for the Leukemia Society. There are two very special people that I'm walking to support. (Now you didn't really think I was going to run it did you? Silly you!) They are Mark Wisby and Justin Allbee. Mark is a personal friend of ours and has been free from non-Hodgkins lymphoma for approximately six months to a year. Justin, a 13 year old with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, is my teammate through the Leukemia Society. Thankfully, both are in remission and are my honored guests for the marathon in Walt Disney World this coming January 2000.

I'm going to do the hard part…..months of training, sweat, getting up pre-dawn every Saturday till the end of the year, and raising the money. You have the easy part of being a phantom partner and writing a check (hopefully, a really big check!) to support me in this effort.

Please take a look at the enclosed information about being a phantom partner. This partnership enables you to enjoy the marathon training and event from the comfort of your own home…..no pain or effort. (None, that is unless writing checks is a really, really painful experience for you.) Whatever you do, however, keep in mind Mark and Justin. Both have endured a year or more of treatments during their recovery process. Nothing that I do can remove that. But what we do together will help move us closer to a cure as well as improved treatments.

I greatly appreciate your generous support and your encouragement. As you can see, I'm committed to make to doing my part, but you're the key to making it work!

I'm hoping to do a couple of newsletters that will update you on the status of my progress. In the meantime, thanks again! You're all the best!
